"Winning the West For Women The Life Of Suffragist Emma Smith DeVoe"
After quite a lengthy break from the blog we are back with some exciting news and an invitation for you.
On Saturday June 18, 2011 we will be celebrating the release of the first ever book written on Emma Smith DeVoe – “Winning the West For Women The Life of Suffragist Emma Smith DeVoe” by Dr. Jennifer Ross-Nazzal.
Though Emma has been included in many books, she was always given a footnote or few sentence mentions. This new 256 page book explores and delves into the person Emma was and the impressive accomplishments she achieved both in the suffrage movement and turn of the century politics. The release of “Winning The West For Women” also gives us an opportunity to celebrate the centennial of Emma and Henry DeVoe’s beautiful 1911 home. Join us for an opportunity to meet Jennifer and tour Emma’s lovely home. This event is a benefit for the FISH Food Banks of Pierce County. Admission is $2 per person or please bring a canned food donation (per person). As we celebrate a great lady we can also help those in great need.
